MAGIC WIN PREP CHAMPIONSHIP - - Magic 41   Trailblazers 32
The Magic defeated a previously undefeated Trailblazer team 41 to 32 to win the Prep Championship game for the 2002 season. The Magic win capped off a terrific season for both teams. The Magic game plan was to play hard, aggressive defense against a very talented and quick Trailblazer team. That strategy paid off as the Magic came out on top in an exciting contest. The Magic opened up a 13 to 6 first quarter lead and never looked back as they hustled their way to the Prep Championship. The Magic were led in scoring by Wynton who played another brilliant game for the Magic. Wynton lit up the nets for 18 points and played a great game at the point guard position. Foday turned in another solid performance at the forward position scoring 10 points on the evening. Donnell had one great game as well scoring 6 points and hauling down 13 rebounds. What a force on the boards Donnell was! Kyle hustled his way to 4 points hitting a buzzer beater just before halftime as the crowd went wild! Brittany rounded out the Magic scoring getting 3 points and playing one awesome game defensively. Last but certaintly not least is Mallory. Mallory has been a fantastic player all season long for the Magic and this game was no different. Mallory pulled down 5 rebounds and as always her defense was splendid. Mallory topped of a great season as she was selected to receive the Sportsmanship award for the Magic. Congratulations Mallory! The Trailblazers were led in scoring by Brent who scored 11 points. Hollaway had 9 points and Spencer scored 10 points and Major rounded out the Trailblazer scoring getting a bucket. Congratulations to both teams on a very good season, and we look forward to a great season again next year!
Second Round Playoff
Magic 26   Rockets 9   (03/06/02)
The Magic battled a very determined Rockets team in the second round of the prep playoffs on Wednesday night. In the end, the Magic teamwork and defense prevailed and the Magic came away with the victory by a score of 26 to 9. Defense has been the Magic theme all year long, and tonight was no different. Mallory and Brittany played a very nice game all around with Mallory scoring 2 points and Brittany scoring 6 points. In addition, both players played a brilliant defensive game. Wynton played another great game at the point, scoring 7 points and picking up numerous steals. Despite being a bit under the weather, Foday managed to score 7 points for the Magic. Donnell was a force on the boards with some outstanding effort rebounding the ball, while also scoring 4 points. The Rockets were led in scoring by Mic who had 5 points on some excellent hustle and determination. Jerry and Devon also played great ball for the Rockets with each player scoring 2 points. Congratulations to the Rockets on a season that was filled with fun, teamwork, and outstanding sportsmanship. Also, congratulations and Good Luck to the Magic as they advance to the Prep League semi-finals!
Saturday March 2nd   First Round Playoff
ROCKETS 20   JAZZ 7
The Rockets began the playoffs with a well played 20-7 victory over the Jazz. DeVahn Powell led the Rockets with 8 points, 5 steals, and excellent ballhandling. Kaei Hardgrove added 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Jerry Roma and Mick Sciezcka scored 3 points each. Katie Barham scored her first bucket of the season. Becka Kush, Nick Jackson and Victor Ellis all played a great game. The Jazz were led Noelia Ramierez with 3 points. Shawn Blair and HeatherWilkens had 2 points each. Sky Jones and Keith Dionese played a good game.
Celtics: 19   Pacers: 18
In an exciting first round playoff game the Celtics staged a sensational second half comeback to tie the game at the end of regulation, and ultimately win in overtime. The Pacers raced to a nine-point halftime lead with an airtight defense and balanced scoring from Keith Brooks, Mark DeAngelis, Sawal Gebre, Peter Guidan and Ram Shenoy. Brooks continued his strong play with 7 second half points to lead the Pacers with 9 total points. The Celtics turned the tables in the second half holding the Pacers scoreless in the 3rd quarter. Holly Roose and Krissy Surgent led the tight defense, while Ben Ware, Sean GIlliam, Justin Bhatti and Tyrell Grayson all contributed with key defensive plays and rebounds to lead the comeback. The undisputable star of this tense game was the Celtics' Aaron Moore, who scored 13 second-half points to lead the surge, including 2 key three-pointers and several tough driving baskets in the lane.

Saturday, February 23, 2002   HAWKS 33   HEAT 14
The Hawks used good shooting, passing and team defense to defeat a very good Heat team, 33-14. The Hawks were led by Ryan O'Farrell's slashing, aggressive play which resulted in 17 points, including a sensational 40 feet three-point basket to close out the first quarter. Andrew Steinberg played strong on both ends of the court and made several jumpers on his way to scoring 14 points. Derek Wiseman chipped in with two points and good hustle. Steven Ferguson, Corinne Pekoske, Megan Gallagher, and Ann Marie Moore played excellent defense with their hustle! Alex Rotruck provided the Heat with excellent ball-handling and pentration on his way to 8 points. Shannon (#21) played a strong game on offense with four points and several effective screens. Brandon (#23) chipped in with two points. Lauren, Paige, Eric and Robert all rebounded well for the Heat.
Magic 36   Pacers 15   (02/23/02)
The Magic ended the regular season with a nice 36 to 15 win over the Pacers. The Pacers were tough in the first half, but the Magic pressure defense enabled the Magic to pull away in the second half. The Magic were led by the strong inside play of Foday who had a game high 13 points. Kyle played and excellent game on both sides of the court for the Magic playing solid defense and scoring 10 points. Wynton had another fine game at the point scoring 8 points, and Brittany battled her way to 3 points. Mallory played a super game for the Magic and also scored 2 points. The Pacers were led in scoring by Sawal who had 5 points; Keith had 4 points for the Pacers, and Marc and Carey each scored 2 points for the Pacers as well. Good luck to both teams in the playoffs!
Celtics: 25   Bucks: 19
The Celtics wrapped up the regular season by holding off a late Bucks rally to win 25-19. Sean Gilliam, with 12 points and Aaron Moore with 9 points once again provided the one-two punch for the Celtics, as they have all season long. Gilliam rebounded well and scored from all over the court while Moore scored on some dazzling drives to the hoop. Tyrell Grayson and Justin Bhatti provided some strong inside help as well scoring 3 and 1 points respectively. Ben Ware's harrassing defense led to his selection as defensive player of the game. Sean Leinenbach with 8 points and Andre Edmond with 7, gave the Celtics quite a scare as they led their team's rally in the fourth quarter. Michelle Godleba scored two points and worked very aggressively on the boards for the Bucks, while Bradley Morningstar rounded out the scoring with a fourth quarter basket. Both teams head into the league playoffs on Saturday March 2nd.
Magic 43   Jazz 6   (02/19/02)
The Magic exploded for 43 points in defeating the Jazz on Tuesday night. Wynton sliced and diced his way to a game high 22 points. Foday added 15 points for the Magic in addition to getting 15 rebounds. Donnell chipped in with 4 points and 6 rebounds, and Brittany rounded out the Magic scoring getting 2 points and hustling her way to a season high 11 rebounds. Kyle and Ashley also played well for the Magic. The Jazz were led in scoring by #33 who had 4 points, and # 30 had 2 points. In picking up their 11th win of the season, the Magic are gearing up to make that playoff push. Good luck to both teams in the playoffs.
Timberwolves 24   Heat 18   2/16/02
The Timberwolves fought off the Heat in what turned out to be a defensive battle. For the Heat, Eric, Lauren and Shannon all made their defensive presence felt. Brandon and Paige helped keep the Timberwolves in check as well. Danny led the heat with 8, followed by Alex with 6. Robert netted 4 as well. For the T-Wolves, it was Marika battling underneath for offensive and defensive rebounds that kept the game moving their way. Re-Re had an excellent defensive game with multiple take aways, as did Nathan. Michaela battled agressively throughout. Pilar contributed 2 key points as did Neftali. Mario had 4 and Marika had 6. Isiah led with 10. An all round team effort!
Timberwolves 34   Celtics 27   2/18/02
The T-wolves put forth another true team effort with six of their players on the boards. Pilar had 2 for her 2nd game in a row, and Re-Re had two as well. Neftali and Nate both had 4, Mario had 8 and Isiah had 12, along with multiple assists. Michaela did a bang-up job on defense, and Marika battled in tight for the boards. Sean led the Celtics with 18, followed by Aaron with 4, and Tyrell and Ben with 2. The Celtics fought hard closing to within 3 several times in the third quarter. The T-wolves rallied back in the fourth and hung-on to win by 7.
Bucks 30   Rockets 12   (2/16/2002)
What a good game played by all the players on both teams. The Bucks were led by Sean Leinenbach (# 32) with game high 16pts,and 8steals, Brandon Downs (# 15) had 6pts,6rebs,4assists,3steals,Andre Edmond(#53) had 6pts,6rebs,1steal,Bradley Morningstar (# 50)2pts,5rebs,4assists,2steal Michelle Gndleba (# 54),5rebs,1steal,Tyler Knight (# 55) 5steals.As for the Rockets they were led by Jerry Roma (# 55) 6pts,2rebs,1assists,1steal, Mick Scieszka (# 50) 2pts,10rebs,3steals,Kari Hargrove (# 51)had 2pts,3rebs,1steal,and to hit the last bucket for the Rockets was sharpshooter Becka Kush (#11) 2pts.DeVahn Powell (# 15),Katie Barhan (# 54),Victor Ellis (# 52),Nick Jackson (# 53),all played well at the defense end.Good luck to all the players in future games.
Magic 28   Hawks 22   (02/16/02)
The Magic got their 10th win of the season defeating the Hawks 28 to 22 on Saturday afternoon. Both teams got off to a slow start, but the pace of the game accelerated in the second half as both teams stepped up the intensity of the game. At the end of the day, it was once again the Magic defense that excelled. Mallory had another terrific game on the defensive side of the ball, and she also scored 2 points in the game. Wynton was the Magic leading scorer getting 14 points and hauling down 7 boards. Foday added 10 points for the Magic, and Kyle rounded out the Magic scoring with 2 points. Brittany led the rebounding effort for the Magic with 8 boards on some fantastic and aggressive play. Donnell also was strong on the boards getting 5 rebounds. For the Hawks, Ryan led the charge with a splendid 14 points on some outstanding hustle and slashing driving moves. Andrew also had a fine game for the Hawks getting 8 points and doing a super job handling the ball. Great effort by both teams!
Celtics: 32   Hawks: 27
In a game of non-stop fast breaks, the Celtics defeated the Hawks 32-27. Sharp-shooting Aaron Moore was quick on the trigger with 11 points for the the Celtics who won their third straight game. Sean Gilliam continued his steady play with 9 points, while Holly Roose came through with 6 key points in the paint. Tyrell Grayson played a strong second half, dominating the boards and chipping in with 4 points. THe Hawks challenged throughout the game, being led by Ryan O'Farrell's game high 13 points. Fleet-footed Derek Wiseman ran the floor well and scored 8 points, while Andrew Steinberg and Corinne Pekoske helped to keep the game tight with 4 and 2 points respectively for the Hawks.
Bucks 18   Heat 16   (2/13/2002)
Wow !! Talk about a close game, down to the last shot as the Bucks held on. The Bucks were led by the 1 - 2 punch of Brandon Downs (#15) and Sean Leinenbach (#32). The Heat was led by there 1-2 punch also. Robert (#25) hit for 6pts and Danny (#22) with 6 pts, then Shannon (#21) had 2pts,Alex (#24) had 2 pts. While Lauren (#12),Eric (#20),Brandon (# 23),and Paige (#45),all played great on defense. The Bucks had 10pts from Sean (#32) , and 8pts from Brandon (#15),Alex (#51),Michelle (#54), Bradley (#50),Andre(#53), Pat (#52),Tyler (#55)they all did a great job on holding them on defense. Great Game. Good luck in the future games to both teams.
Magic 26   Pistons 24   (02/13/02)
The Magic and Pistons battled in an entertaining game with both teams playing hard and intense throughout. The game was tight the whole way with the Magic winning 26 to 24. The Pistons effective press in the scond quarter gave the Magic fits and allowed the Pistons to close the gap by halftime. The Magic again showed renewed intensity in the second half and stormed back from behind to pick up the victory. The games high scorer, #11 for the Pistons, lit up the nets for 16 points with 6 of those points coming off of 3 pointers! The defensive player of the game goes to Mallory on the Magic. Mallory played smart, aggressive, and outstanding defense throughout the game. Foday led the way in scoring for the Magic with 12 points on his powerful inside play. Wynton had 8 points for the Magic, and Brittany scored a season high 6 points for the Magic. Kyle hauled down 8 rebounds for the Magic and Donnell continues to play great ball for the Magic. For the Pistons, #14 had 4 points and # 42 had 4 points. Great game by all players!
Timberwolves   Nets
Despite a tight first quarter, the Timberwolves turned in their best team performance of the season. Isiah was high scorer with 13, including 3 for 4 from the line, and had numerous assists to all the T-Wolves. Michaela and Pilar battled for rebounds and Pilar took her first trip to the free-throw line. Re-Re had six points and played a solid defense. Marika took on the Nets' Tyrique and Nahom, and held them in check despite earning four fouls. Neftali and Nathan both had great defensive performances and each netted 4 for the T-Wolves. Despite the score, the Nets played an awesome game. Tyrique led with 9 followed by Nahom with 4. Jordan and Scott both scored 2 for the Nets. William, Patrick and Cesar all battled hard as well.
HAWKS 24   JAZZ 22
The Hawks and the Jazz played a close game to the end with the Hawks prevailing, thanks to a strong defense effort and key baskets. The Hawks were led by the scoring and leadership of Ryan O'Farrell who scored 12 points. Andrew Steinberg played a strong game (5 points) and Derek Wiseman chipped in with 5 points. Steven Ferguson (2 points), Megan Gallagher, Ann Marie Moore and Corinne Pekoske played outstanding defense to aid the Hawks victory. The Jazz were led by the strong inside play of Wedmark (#23 - 4 points) and Jones (#24- 2 points.) The Jazz received a strong offense effort from #31 ( 8 points), Blair (#32 - points), Rodriguez (#30 - 2 points), and Doinese (#22). This was a good effort by both teams and a close game as most Prep games have been this season.
Celtics: 19   Pacers: 9
The Celtics defeated a scrappy Pacers team 19-9 to improve their record to 5 wins and 4 losses. Sean Gilliam had the hot hand, and led all scorers with 14 points. Aaron Moore's floor leadership and Justin Bhatti's superb all-around play contributed to the Celtics victory as well. Tyrell Grayson helped give the rebounding edge to the Celtics and Krissy Surgent came away as the "Defender of the Game" as she frustrated the Pacers guards on the perimeter. Keith Brooks led the Pacers attack with 4 points, while Peter Guidan and Ram Shenoy chipped in with a basket apiece. Whitley Hedgman played a strong game on the inside, and contributed with a point from the free throw line. Shernetta Boyd's ballhandling skills and defensive hustle helped to keep the Pacers close.
Magic 22   Kings 6   (02/04/02) The Kings and Magic battled in a defensive contest with the Magic pulling away in the second half to get the win 22 to 6, and improve their record to 7 and 1.   The first half saw both teams play great defense with the Magic only leading 6 to 2 at the half. In the second half, the Magic played with a bit more intensity and came away with the win. The Magic were led in scoring by Wynton who lit up the nets for 12 points. Foday had 6 points and Donnell rounded out the Magic scoring with 4 points while playing another great inside outside game. Brittany really picked up the pace in the second half and her inspired play was the key to the game. Mallory, Kyle, and Ashley played a fine defensive game shutting down the Kings hot shooters. The Kings were led by Wooden with 4 points on some tremendous hustle and second effort. Palmer added a bucket for the Kings as well. Both teams played inspired ball throughout as the season comes to the midway point.
Magic 29   Timberwolves 25
The Magic defeated the Timberwolves on Saturday afternoon 29 to 25 in a game that was tense and close throughout. The Magic held a one point lead at halftime by playing a strategic defense to try and shut down the Timberwolves high scorer, Mario. The Magic continued to alternate defenses in the second half with Brittany matched up against the Timberwolves leading scorer. The MVP in this game has to go to Brittany for her determined and brilliant defensive effort. Way to go Brittany on this outstanding game! Wynton was again the Magic leading scorer slashing his way to a game high 14 points and controlling the tempo of the game, and also collecting 10 rebounds. Foday had another strong inside game for the Magic hauling down 10 rebounds and hustling his way to 8 points. Donnell played very well showing awesome determination and also scoring 4 points. Mallory played tremendous weak side defense and showed alot of aggressive play and also scored 1 point, and Kyle rounded out the Magic scoring getting a bucket and playing a good point guard while Wynton rested. The Timberwolves were led in scoring by Isiah who got 11 points with 5 of those points coming off of some excellent free throw shooting. Neftali scored 6 points for the Timberwolves, Mario had 4 points, Nate had 2 points, and Marika had a bucket for the 'Wolves effort. Both teams played hard with the Magic eventually coming out on top.
Magic 22   Kings 6   (02/04/02)

Timberwolves 37   Hawks 28
The Timberwolves had another exciting game Feb. 5th. The Hawks were leading after the 3rd quarter but Mario and Isiah each scored 6 points in the last quarter to help the Timberwolves to another win. Mario scored a total of 17 points with Isiah following closely with 16. Marika had the other 4 Timberwolves points. Number 12 on the Hawks scored 21 of the Hawks' 28 points. It was a defensive battle throughout the game with many key plays made by the other Timberwolve players; Nate, Michaela, Pilar and ReRe.
Timberwolves 31   Rockets 25
The Rockets played a tough game on Feb. 2nd but the Timberwolves were able to pull out another win. The Rockets high scorer was Mike with 8 points in the first quarter and 3 more later in the game. Jerry followed close behind with 10 points for the Rockets. Mario was the big scorer for the Timberwolves with 14 points. Isiah had 10 points this game, Nate helped out with 3 points and Marika had 2. Michaela got her first points of the season with a great shot. Neftali and ReRe helped the Timberwolves defensively throughout the game.
Magic 33   Bucks 24   (02/02/02)
Playing with only five players, the Magic showed a lot of determination in defeating the Bucks 33 to 24.   The Magic built up a big first half lead (24 to 8) like they have done almost all season and tried the slow down tempo in the second half.   The Bucks battled back in the second half, never giving up and showing a lot of hustle and second effort rebounding to stay in the game.   The Magic were led by the inside outside combo of Foday and Wynton.   Foday led the Magic in scoring with 16 points and 11 rebounds.   Wynton had 7 points; Donnell had a very nice offensive and defensive game scoring 6 points and hauling down 11 rebounds; Kyle had 4 points and played a very fine defensive game on the wing; and Brittany battled inside all game long, and played excellent weakside defense.   The Bucks were led in scoring by Sean with 10 points (one bucket was a long range 3 pointer!); Brandon had 8 points; Andre had 4 points; annd Bradley rounded out the Bucks scoring with 2 points.   Both teams demonstrated teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the game.
Celtics: 29   Jazz: 8   (1/31/2002)
The Celtics evened their season record to 3-3 with a win over the Jazz.   Tyrell Grayson played his best game of the season, scoring 8 of his game high 12 points in the final quarter to help the Celtics pull away.   Sean Gilliam, with 9 points and Aaron Moore with 6, aided the Celtics balanced attack.   Justin Bhatti was selected as the "defensive player of the game" for his inspired defensive hustle and rebounding.   Stephen Wedmark led the way for the Jazz with 4 points.   Noelia Ramirez and Keith Dionise chipped in with 3 and 1 points respectively.   Shawn Blair played a great all-around game for the Jazz as well.
Celtics: 20   Kings: 11   (2/2/2002)
Krissy Surgent's determined defense and Sean Gilliam's season-high 12 points helped the Celtics improve their record to 4-3 with a 20-11 victory over the Kings.   Ben Ware's unpredictable shooting was on target in today's game, as he brought home 4 important points for the Celtics.   Holly Roose provided a strong rebounding effort while Justin Bhatti and Aaron Moore rounded out the scoring with a basket each.   Steven Wooden led a strong second half comeback attempt for the Kings, scoring all 11 of his team's points.   Keith Hutchinson and Tanisha Johnson played inspired defense throughout the game for the Kings, while Corey Blackwell and Demarko Palmer displayed impressive ball handing and passing skills on the offensive end.
Bucks 33   Kings 15   (1/29/2002)
What a fast pace game pressure thru out with both defences playing hard.   Shooting guard Sean Leinenbach (#32) was red hot thru out the whole game landing 18pts, 6rebs, and 3 steals.   Team mate Brandon Downs (#15) hit for 11pts 6rebs and 6 steals.   Other players who scored were Bradley Morningstar (#50) 2pts, 3rebs, and 5 steals, and Andre Edmondwith 2pts, 8rebs, and 5 steals.   Other players that helped were Patrick Tolan (#52) 2rebs and 3 steals.   Alex Mercadante (#51) 2rebs and 1 steal, Tyler Knight 1 steal.   The Kings were led by their big guy Wooden (#52)with 10pts and game high of 19 rebs and 2 steals, then Palmer (#32) put in the other 5pts, 5rebs, and 3 steals.   Johnson (#43) grabbed 9rebs and 2 steals, Shoeb (#50) 4rebs, Huthinson (#14) 1 steal, Kozaklis (#42), Feagan (#40).   Good game and good luck in future games.
ROCKETS 36   HAWKS 32
Wow! What a game.   The Rockets took a commanding lead into the 4th period before the Hawks came back to tie the game at 30, the Rockets scored the next 6 points to close out the victory.   Mick Scieszka led the Rockets with 17 points and 10 boards.   Jerry Roma added 13 and great offensive leadership.   Kari Hardgrove poured in 4 and Becka Kush had 2 points.   Great defense was turned in by Katie Barham and DeVahn Powell.   The Hawks were led by Andrew Steinberg's 14 points and good ballhandling.   Jerry O'Farrell chipped in 13, Derek Wiseman chipped in 4 and Steven Ferguson rounded ouit the scoring.
Bucks 17   Jazz 12   (01/26/02)
What a good game for all the players in this close game.   The Bucks were lead by the shooting guard Sean Leinenbach (#32) with 6pts-3rebs and 3steals, Brandon Downs (#15) followed up with 5pts-8rebs and 7steals, then Andre Edmond (#53) scored 2pts with game high 12rebs-2steals, and Alex Mercadante (#51) had 2pts-3rebs, and Bradley Morningstar (#50) 2pts-3rebs.   Michelle Gndleba (#54) had season high 9rebs.   Patrick Tolan (#52) had 3 big steals.   The Jazz that put up a big fight was lead by 5 players with a basket each were Heather(#31),Ernest(#34),Keith(#22),Steven(#23),Shannon(#33),while Skyy(#24) had 1pt and Shawn(#32) also had 1 pt, but the player that kept the game close was Noelia(#30) at point guard she passed the ball to the right person, at the right time.   Thanks for the good game, and good luck to both teams in future games.

On Januuary 26, 2002 the Trailblazers defeated the Rockets 45-30.   The Trailblazers were led by a balanced scoring attack with Aeron Spencer scoring 17 points, Dominique Major 12 points, Sebastian Carrillo 10 points, and Eric Brent 6 points.   Kristen Fitzgerald and Alexis Talley also made strong contributions rebounding and playing solid defense.   Throughout the entire game, the determined Rockets played tough defense and executed offensively- twice cutting the lead down to 8 points.   Mike Scieszka led the Rockets with 23 points. Jerry Roma added 7 points.
Timberwolves 23   Pacers 13   (01/26/02)
The Timberwolves pulled ahead of the Pacers late in the game after a close, physical game.   The final score was 23-13.   The Pacers were led by Keith with 5.   Sawol and Peter both netted 3 and Shermetta had 2.   The rest of the team helped mount an impressive defense, but the Timberwolves finally pulled ahead.   Once again, Isiah led with 10, followed by Mario with 7.   Marika dropped 4 and Neftali had 2.   Nate battled in close, pulling down some key rebounds.   Requan, Michaela and Pilar all kicked in with a superb defensive effort.
Magic 34   Nuggets 31   (01/26/02)
The Magic built up a commanding lead going into the 4th quarter against the Nuggets only to see it evaporate in the closing minutes of the game, but the Magic held on in the end for a hard earned 34 to 31 win over the Nuggets.   Down by 14 points at the beginning of the 4th quarter, the Nuggets rallied behind the red hot shooting of Davis (#32) to cut the Magic lead to 2 points.   Davis, the games high scorer with 26 points, sizzled the nets for 16 fourth quarter points, but that one man show was not enough to stop the balanced Magic attack.   The team play of the Magic was again clicking.   In scoring, the Magic were led by Wynton Wilson with 12 points.   Kyle Tatum again had a fine game for the Magic scoring 10 points, while Foday Sesay hustled his way to 8 points.   Brittany Gravatt added 4 points for the Magic, and battled inside all game long scoring her points off of offensive rebounds.   The defensive stars for the Magic were Mallory Smith, Kyle Tatum, Donnell Norris, and Ashley Piepul.   These players showed outstanding hustle and energy all game long.   Both teams battled to the very end and should be saluted for an excellent game!
HAWKS 19   KINGS 18
The Hawks and Kings played an exciting game that came down to the last seconds before the winner was decided.   The Hawks jumped out to a 10-0 lead, led by the strong play of Derek Wiseman (6 points), Corinne Pekoske (2 points) and Steven Ferguson.   The Kings made a spirited comeback led by Wooden (#52-10 points), Shoeb (#50-4 points), Palmer (#32- 2points), and Johnson (#43- 2 points).   The Hawks prevailed though, thanks to the all-around play of Ryan O'Farrell (6 points), Andrew Steinberg (5 points, including a three pointer at the end of the first half), and Megan Gallagher (energetic defense!).
ROCKETS 24   JAZZ 7
The Rockets won their first game of the season defeating the JAZZ 24-7.   Jerry Roma led the Rockets with 13 points and five assists.   Mike Scieszka added 9 points and 10 big boards.   Kari Hargrove rounded out the Rockets scoring sinking 2 free throws.   Becka Kush played great defense with 3 steals, Katie Barham and Nick Jackson were big on the boards.   The Jazz were led by Shannon Cleary's 4 points.   Shawn Blair added 2 points and Heather Wilkens rounded out the scoring for the Jazz.   Great effort by both teams.
Timberwolves 32   Pistons 26   (01/24/02)
The Timberwolves won their 4th in a hard fought, seesaw battle with the Pistons Thursday night.   The Timberwolves fell behind by 2 in the 3rd after leading by 10 at the half.   The Pistons were led by Eric who dropped 18 of their 26 points.   Patrick had 4 and Brittany and Landon each netted 2.   The T-Wolves rallied as a team in the 4th to win it 32-26.   Neftali had a personal high game with 10, while Isiah led the T-Wolves' onslaught with 12.   Michaela inspired the team late, drawing a hard foul in an aggressive rebound battle.   Nate helped out with a number of boards and a spectacular OB save.   Pilar's agressive defense was once again instrumental.   Re-Re and Marika both kicked in 2, and Mario had 6.
Magic 37   Celtics 25   (01/22/02)
The Magic used red hot first half shooting, building up a 25 to 10 halftime lead, and then holding on to defeat the Celtics 37 to 25.   Pressure defense in the first half was also a key to this victory.   Mallory Smith and Brittany Gravatt were awesome under the basket in the Magic 3-2 zone defense, and Donnell Norris also played good defense in the zone.   In scoring, the Magic were led by Foday Sesay who blistered the nets for 17 points, and also snatched 8 rebounds.   Wynton Wilson had another fine game at the point guard position scoring 14 points.   Kyle Tatum rounded out the Magic scoring with 6 points, and muscled his way to 7 boards.   In the second half, the Celtics put on the pressure but fell a bit short.   The Celtics were led in scoring by Aaron Moore and Sean Gillian who each scored 8 points.   Den Ware added 4 points for the Celtics, and Holly Roose and Tyrell Grayson each had a bucket for the Celtics.
Trailblazers 36   Kings 18   (01/18/02)
John Hollaway, Eric Brent and Aeron Spencer led the Trailblazers offensive charge, scoring 34 of 36 points.   Sebastian Carrillo had an outstanding defensive performance forcing numeruos turnovers.   Jacob Carrano and Alexis Talley also gave strong performances on defense and the boards.   The Kings were led by Steven Wooden with 14 points.   Tanisha Johnson and Demarco Palmer each scored 2 points.   Patrick Feagan, Korey Blackwell, and Keith Hutchinson played hard throughout the game.
Magic 26   Rockets 8   (01/18/02)
The Magic jumped of to a lead in the first quarter and never looked back as they defeated the Rockets 26 to 8.   The Magic used a combination of zone defenses to hold the Rockets in check.   The Magic had a very balanced scoring attack with Wynton Wilson; Kyle Tatum; and Foday Sesay each scoring 8 points.   Donnell Norris rounded out the Magic scoring with 2 points.   The Rockets were led in scoring by Mike Scieszka with 4 points; Jerry Roma and DeVahn powell each scored 2 points for the Rockets.   The Rockets demonstrated a strong inside game, but just could not capitalize on the size advantage.   Both teams are to be commended for their hard and spirited play.
Timberwolves 32   Bucks 26   (1/17/2002)
The Bucks took on the visiting Timberwolves at Fred Lynn Thursday night, and it was an exciting match up.   The Bucks led by two going into the half, but the Timberwolves rallied and netted their 3rd win, ending the game at 32-26.   Isiah led the T-Wolves in scoring with 14, followed by Mario with 11, Neftali had 3, and Marika and Requan each had 2.   Nathan, Pilar, and Michaela all turned in outstanding performances, forcing numerous turnovers and virtually shutting down the Bucks in the second half.   Brandon was the high scorer for the Bucks with 11.
HAWKS 27   PISTONS 25   (1/7/2002)
The Hawks and the Pistons had an exciting and well-played game for so early in the season!   The Hawks stormed out to a lead of 14-4 led by the hot shooting of Andrew Steinberg (12 points) and the agressive defense of Meghan Gallagher, Derek Wiseman and Corinne Pekoske.   The Pistons then staged a furious comeback with excellent shooting and rebounding led by Patrich, Eric and Evan.   The Pistons and Hawks were tied at 25 with less than one minute left when Ryan O'Farrell (15 points) scored the winning basket.   Steven Ferguson sealed the victory with two key defensive plays at the end of the game.   Great game by both teams.
Pistons 25   Pacers 24   (1/12/2002)
On Saturday the 12th, the Pistons played the Pacers.   The Pacers opened the game with a few quick points scored by Sherneta Boyd and helping their team to a nice lead at the beginning of the first half.   But in the third quarter Patrick Quigley woke up with four points to help the Pistons catch up.   The Pistons though were in trouble when Keith Brooks and Ramnath Shenoy together put up ten points in the fourth quarter.   The Pistons' Eric Brantley did not give up, as he lit up the score board with his four, three pointers, to lead the Pistons to a 25 to 24 win.
Magic (26)   Nets (25)   (1/12/2002)
In an exciting game that was not decided until the final buzzer, the Magic defeated the Nets 26 to 25.   The Magic jumped to an early 12 to 2 lead only to have the Nets storm back to take the lead.   The Magic then regained the lead and held on for the victory.   The Nets had a chance to win the game with 3 seconds left on the clock, but could not convert the free throws.   The Magic were led in scoring by Foday who had 12 points.   Wynton played another good game at point guard scoring 8 points.   Donnell, Brittany, and Kyle each scored 2 points for the Magic.   Spencer led the Nets in scoring with 9 points on powerful inside play.   Mahom scored 6 points; William and Jordan scored 4 points; and Tyrique rounded out the Nets scoring with 2 points.
Timberwolves-31   Kings-22   (1/12/02)
The Kings staged a late comeback, outscoring the Timberwolves 15 to 8 in the 2nd half, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Timberwolves 16 point first-half lead.   Isiah Brower led the T-Wolves with 15, followed closely by Mario Robinson, who had 10.   Requan "Re-Re" Lilly-Holmes had 4 and Marika Robinson had two.   Nate Swanson turned in an outstanding defensive performance, as did Neftali Ramirez, both forcing numerous trunovers.   Michaela Godfrey and Pilar Sanguinetti made several important plays including a key block by Pilar.   The final score was 31-22 Timberwolves.
Hawks 22   Bucks 17   (Saturday, January 12)
The Hawks were able to withstand a hard charging attack from the Bucks to win their second straight game.   The Bucks used relentless man-to-man pressure to make a last minute run.   The Hawks took control of the game in the third quarter thanks to the sharpshooting of Andrew Steinberg (8 points) and Ryan O'Farrell (8 points).   Derek Wiseman, Steven Ferguson and Corinne Pekoske each scored a basket and made crisp passes to aid the victory.   Megan Gallagher and Ann Marie Moore chipped in with solid defense and hustle.   The Bucks received a strong offense effort from Brandon (#15-6 points), Bradley (#50-6 points), and Andre (#53-4 points).   Strong defense and rebounding were supplied by Alex (#51), Tyler (#55), Michelle (#54) and Pat (#52).   The Hawks were impressed by the Bucks effort!

What a good game, all the way down to the end buzzer.   The Bucks were led in scoring by Andre Edmond(#53) with 6 points, then Brandon Downs(#15) with 5 points, then Sean Leinenbach(#32) with 3 points, then Alex Mercadante(#51) with 2 points, then Tyler Knight(#55) with 2 points, then to round out the scoring was Bradley Morningstar(#50) with 1 point.   The Pacers were led by Keith(#24) led all scorers with 7 points, then Ram(#42) with 3 points, then Shernetta(#40), Marc(#34), Peter(#32), Cavey(#22) each with 2 points.   Other key players in the win for the Bucks were Michelle Gndleba(#54) Patrick Tolan(#52).   The other Pacers that played well were Sawal(#30) and Whitley(#44).
Celtics: 29   Rockets:15   (1/12/2002)
The Celtics used a strong second half to break open a close game with the Rockets, as they recorded their second straight victory on Saturday.   Sean Gilliam played a well rounded game for the Celtics.   He scored six points, but was even more valuable with a strong rebounding and passing display.   Aaron Moore led all scorers with 11 points, hitting several outside shots as well as driving layups.   Justin Bhatti hustled his way to an 8 point performance.   Ben Ware excited the crowd with his determined defense for the Celtics, recording several steals and blocked shots.   Jerry Roma's six point output helped to kept the Rockets close into the fourth quarter, and speedy DeVahn Powell, with 4 points, recorded a tremendous defensive performance.   Mike Scieszka worked well on the inside for the Rockets and came away with 5 points for his efforts.
Celtics: 22   Nets: 21   (1/10/2002)
The Celtics held off a furious late game rally by the Nets to come away with a 22-21 victory, evening their record at 1 and 1.   Sean Gilliam led the way with 10 Points, while Justin Bhatti came through with 5 points late in the game to ice the win for the Celtics.   Celtics point guard, Aaron Moore was the defensive player of the game for the Celtics and made a clutch free throw in the last two minutes.   Holly Roose scored her first bucket of the season, calmly banking in a set shot from the wing during the exciting final minutes.   Nahom Brhane of the Nets led all scorers with 11 points.   William Jones added 4 points.   Scott Tringali played a great all around game controlling the Nets offense and defense form his point guard position.
Timberwolves 28   Jazz 11   (1/9/2002)
The Timberwolves had an exciting win Wed, against the Jazz team.   Isiah Brower scored 16 of the 28 Timberwolve's points.   Nate Swanson was the second highest scorer with 5 points followed by Requan Lilly-Holmes who scored 3.   Marika Robinson and Mario Robinson scored 2 points each.
There was quite a defensive battle between Neftali Ramirez (Timberwolves) and his sister, Noeila Ramirez (Jazz).   Shannon Clearly (Jazz) and Marika Robinson (Timberwolves) also found themselves in a battle.   Pilar Sarguinetti and Michaela Godfrey showed lots of hustle for the Timberwolves, helping to get the Timberwolves first win of the season.
Trailblazers 30   Magic 27   (1/7/2002)
John Hollaway and Eric Brent led the Trailblazers with 12 and 10 points.   Wynton Ola-Wilson and M. Smith led the Magic with 9 and 8 points.
Jazz 9   Kings 3
In a Defensive struggle, the Jazz outlasted the Kings.   The Jazz and Kings started their first game of the season with a display of very tough defense from both teams.   Noelia Ramirez of the Jazz led all scorers with 5 points.   Followed by Ernest Brown of the Jazz with 4 points.   Stephen Wedmark, Skyy Jones and Heather Wilkins strong rebounding helped the Jazz control the boards.   Keith Dionise, Shawn Blair and Shannon Cleary played excellent defense for the Jazz.
Demarco Palmer scored 2 points and Peter Maher scored 1 point for the Kings.   Other players for the Kings that played hard throughout the games were Keith Hutchinson, Korey Blackwell, Tanisha Johnson, Kareem Shoed, and Patrick Feagans.

Pacers 25   Hawks 19   (1/5/2002)
Pacers and Hawks are sent into overtime after #14 Andrew of the Hawks makes a 3 point shoot with only 16 seconds left in the game 17-17.   The spectators were thrilled.   With only having 3 minutes in OT, the Pacers were able to pull through with their first win of the season, winning 25-19.
For the Pacers, Keith - 10 pts, Sawol - 4 pts, Peter - 5 pts, Whitley - 2 pts and Ram - 4 pts.
For the Hawks, Andrew - 5 pts, Ryan - 12 pts and Derek - 2 pts.
Magic-25   Heat-16   (1/5/2002)
The Magic opened the 2002 season with an exciting victory over the Heat.   The Magic played outstanding defense and rebounded the ball very well.   Brittany Gravatt led the way in rebounds with 9 followed by Kyle Tatum and Donnell Norris with 8 rebounds each.   In scoring, Kyle Tatum led the way for the Magic with 12 points; followed by Wynton Wilson with 5 points; Donnell Norris with 4 points; and Brittany Gravatt and Foday Sesay with 2 points each.   For the Heat, the scoring was led by Danny Coleman with 8 points; Alex Rotruck and Brandon each had 3 points; and Shannon rounded out the scoring for the Heat with 2 points.   The Heat put on an impressive full court press down the stretch, but it was not enough to overcome the Magic lead.
Nets 16   Rockets 9   (1/5/2002)
The first Prep game of the season was a tough defensive contest with points tough to come by.   The Nets outlasted the Rockets 16 - 9 for the victory.   The Nets were led by Nahome Brhane with 7 points.   Ty Lauderdale added 5 points and 4 steals and Scott Tringall closed out the nets scoring with 4 points.   William Jones Patrick Fischer, and Jordan Golob played a fine defensive game.   The Rockets were led by Jerry Roma's 5 points and 5 steals.   Mike Scieszka and Becka Kush added 2 points each.   De Vahn Powell had 3 steals and Katie Barham and Kari Hardgrove played tough defense.   A good start to the Prep season, expect many close games and improvement with every game played.
